Australia’s Untamed Tasmania Walk

Day 1 – Arrive Launceston – lunch en route
Greeted by your guide at the airport and transferred to your accommodation. Depending on arrival time, we may make a stop at the Trowunna Wildlife Park to pat a koala, cuddle a wombat and see the Tasmanian devils being fed. From Trowunna we make our way through rolling countryside to Sheffield “Town of Murals before arriving at Cradle Mountain to take in some short around Cradle National Park.

Day 2 – Cradle Mountain Activities – Picnic Lunch
Today we take in the alpine wilderness of Cradle Mountain with a hike in the Cradle Valley.
Walk: 13 km
Time required: 5-6 hours
Grade: medium but with very steep ascents
Environment: Alpine moorland, glacially fromed lakes and alpine mountain ascent to craggy exposed dolerite tops.
Available Options: Shorter unguided walks; Nocturnal Devil Tour; Scenic helecopter flight over South West Tasmania wilderness areas.

Day 3 – Depart 8.30 am – Gourmet Wilderness & Wildlife Tour – Picnic Lunch
Leaving Cradle Mountain we journey to Launceston to leave our luggage before we travel northeast to Story’s Creek on the south eastern side of Mt Ben Lomond, where we set off on a hike through stunning native forest of the north east highlands
Walk: 8-10 km
Time required: 2-3 hours
Grade: Easy
Environment: Descent through a mix of wet/dry native eucalypt forest
On arriving at the end of your hike to the Tyne Valley you will be introduced to gourmet bush tucker dinner before meeting some of Tasmania’s native wildlife species after dark.

Day 4 – Ben Lomond Hike – Tamar Vineyards – Lunch at Ben Lomond Creek Inn
Today you will experience Tasmania’s second highest peak hiking at Mount Ben Lomond and viewing a superb display of alpine flora and vegetation.
Walk: 12.7 km
Time required: 4-6 hours
Grade: medium
Environment: Alpine ascent, exposed alpine meadows
On leaving Ben Lomond we spend the afternoon visiting the vineyards on the Tamar River before returning to your accommodation to freshen up before dinner at the award winning Stillwater Restaurant.

Day 5 – Depart 8.30 – Waterfalls & Wilderness Tour–Lunch Pyengana Cheese Factory
Departing Launceston we journey through the northeast highlands of Tasmania to our first destination of Ralph’s Falls at Mt. Victoria. Here we commence a hike of medium grade and taking 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. We will wander through untouched rain forest with superb views with great photographic opportunities on offer. Continuing onto Cashes Gorge to complete the loop back to the carpark. From Mt Victoria we travel to Pyengana for a gentle 30 minute stroll to view the St Columba Falls. After lunch at the Pyengana Cheese Factory we make our way inland to the Evercreech Forest Reserve to visit the “White Knights” the tallest whitegum trees in the world before finishing our day on the Freycinet Peninsular Overnight Freycinet Lodge – dinner inclusive

Day 6 – Freycinet National Park Activities- Winglass Bay-Hazards Beach Hike
Today we embark on an easy circuit walk at Freycinet Peninsula which provides the opportunity for a break at both Wineglass Bay and Hazards Beach with swimming or lazing at either or both beaches.
Walk: 13 km (including 3 km on Wineglass Bay beach)
Time required: 5-6 hours
Grade: Easy
Environment: Beaches, granite outcrops and coastal heathland
On completing your hike we will take on other areas of Freycinet Peninsular such as Cape Tourville or you make just like to relax back at the lodge

Day 7 –Depart 9.00am - Freycinet Sea Charters Ocean Cruise – lunch en route
Today you will explore Freycinet’s breathtaking cliffs and sea caves so close you can almost touch on board the Schouten Passage. Then it’s on to Wineglass Bay, listed one of the top ten beaches in the world, where you can relax on board and savour the magnificent surroundings with a sample of locally grown sparkling wine,a freshly shucked oyster and Tasmanians finest cheeses.
An option to the sea cruise will be to travel to Hobart at a more leisurly pace taking in places like Kate’s Berry Farm and Weilangta Forest Reserve. On arriving at Hobart and after checking into you accommodation on Hobart’s waterfront you will dine at the famous Ball & Chain Grill at Salamanca and sample some of Tassie’s prime beef or seafood steaks, cooked to perfection. Day 8 – Salamanca Market (Saturday Only) Hobart Activities
Today you have the opportunity to discover the many attractions and sites of Hobart and of course the Salamanca Market (Saturday only) where the normally subdued waterfront area breaks into a hype of activity with an array of quality products and craftsmanship on display. Later on in the day an evening ocean cruise and dinner down to Peppermint Bay and return to Hobart.
